Upward trends in petrol prices make car owners consider installing natural gas equipment in their cars. So is it worthwhile to install car gas cylinder equipment?

Advantages of gas cylinder equipment installation:

- installation of gas cylinder equipment in cars is cost-efficient due to the fact that natural gas is almost twice cheaper than petrol;
- no detonation - as opposed to petrol fuel, the natural gas and air mixture is more pure and homogeneous, so it burns smoothly, with a lower speed;
- natual gas equipment for cars in the power saving mode uses the engine crank gear;
- natual gas does not contain toxic contaminants - lead or sulfur - that have a negative effect on the wear-out of the combustion chamber elements and destroy the motor oil;
- the use of natural gas reduces combustion deposits, thus increasing the operating life of pistons and valves;
- a gas unit in a car is more environmentally friendly than petrol units, as the gas mixture emissions contain 20 times less carbon dioxide, 17 times less hydrocarbon, 11 times less of other elements, including sulfur.

Some disadvantages of converting cars to natural gas:

- difficulties at the moment of acceleration when switching the car to petrol;
- sometimes, after the car has been idle, it needs to be started more than once because the motor slows down (mainly because of the inaccurate engine tuning for parallel operation on petrol and natural gas or because of the low-quality fuel);
- bulky cylinders. Gas cylinder equipment takes quite a lot of space and adds weight. But here is a solution - for passenger cars gas cylinders in the form of a donut are made, which are installed in the place of the spare wheel;
- wear-out and burnout of the valves and the valve seats during continuous operation on gas without adding a special lubricant.

In a car with gas cylinder equipment you should always monitor the condition of the electric wiring, the ignition system and the air filter, keep the car from overheating and track unwanted odours in the passenger compartment, cargo compartment and under the hood.
